Puppy Love

Puppy Therapy - letting all your
worries melt away!
Thursday may well have been one of my favourite days ever - puppies at work! And though there is no denying that they were a bit of a distraction, we did still manage to get some work done too ... though there was definitely a lot of cuddling! This was also quite an accomplishment as back in 2011 my year 6 class wrote persuasive letters to the head teacher for why we should be allowed to have a school dog, to no avail so finally I got to have dogs at work!!

Kindness is .... reading a book to tired puppies!

The visit was part of our Kindness Month initiative where we have chosen BSPCA as our charity of the month. All money collected in our donations box will go to them this month and we are also collecting donations of dog and cat food too. So please drop by and donate a few pula or when you are shopping pick up an extra tin of dog or cat food or bag of biscuits.

Happiness!
The puppies all came from the BSPCA who currently have over 20 puppies that have either been found or surrendered to them as owners were unable to cope. They are doing an amazing job loking after them though it is such a shame that so many dogs are ending up without homes. The best news was that one of our visitors was very interested in adopting one and would be going to visit the BSPCA later in the week and another was interested in the puppy fostering program too.

Puppies love a tummy rub!

Kutlo with Kutlo!
Socialisation is so key to these puppies so that they will be able to find their forever homes and we
were more than happy to help! We did have a couple of children who were a little nervous of the puppies at first yet managed to get up the courage to give the smallest one a little love - this smallest one was Kutlo's favourite and so we named her Kutlo!  There was also a a very adventurous pup who liked to explore the whole area and so we nicknamed him Indianna.

The puppies will be back to visit us between 9am-2pm on Thursday 15th February and again the following Tuesday 20th February. (The change of day is because Thursday 22nd February we have a Blood Donation Drive happening and thought that dogs and blood doning may not be the best mix!) We hope to see you then or come by and drop in some donations to support the BSPCA in their brilliant work.
Who says we can't multi-task?
Team work!

Tired our pups!
Great place for a nap!
Don't forget that the BSPCA always welcomes visitors to come and show their residents a little love. https://www.facebook.com/bspcagaborone/

The Bark & Bite pop-up cafe at the BSPCA is a great way to spend a Saturday morning with fantastic homemade cakes and even a bacon butty. If you are looking for a new book (or have some to donate) then their book shop is also a great place to look for your next read.

Kindness elves - one of
the prizes for the poetry
competition
The elves were kindly donated by
Anna from The Imagination Tree,
Creator of The Kindness Elves.
For those of you interested in supporting our initiative #makingFebruarykindnessmonth please check out our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/capturethekindness where we are running a photography competition for capturing kind acts or our poetry competition where poems just need to have a theme of kindness. You can e-mail your entries to thehoneycombhub@outlook.com by the end of February.

You can also join in #kindnessmonth in your own way by completing the acts of kindness on our calendar. This week we have:
-tell one of your friends why you are glad you are friends
-don't walk past the rubbish on your street, pick some up
-be kind to yourself, relax for 10 minutes with a cup of coffee
-give a hug, you don't know how much someone (or you) may need it
-send a positive text message to 3 friends

How many acts of kindness can you manage this week? Good luck x
